As a screenwriter, Logan had three movies released in 2011: Hugo, Coriolanus and Rango. Previous film work includes Sweeney Todd (Golden Globe award); The Aviator (Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA and WGA nominations); Gladiator (Oscar, Golden Globe, BAFTA and WGA nominations); The Last Samurai; Any Given Sunday, and RKO 281 (WGA award, Emmy nomination).
A powerful new voice on the theatre scene, Logan received the Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critic Circle and Drama League awards for RED. The acclaimed play about Abstract-Expressionist painter Mark Rothko premiered at The Donmar Warehouse in London and at the Golden Theatre on Broadway. Logan is the author of more than a dozen other plays including Never the Sinner and Hauptmann. His adaptation of Ibsen's The Master Builder premiered on the West End in 2003.

Seeing Red: Rothko and Theatricality

For the next edition of Sunday-@-The Segal, Monday-@-McGill, we are proud to welcome Curator of Modern Art at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Anne Grace and the director of IPLAI, Paul Yachnin, for a discussion on Mark Rothko and theatricality as seen in the critically-acclaimed play RED.

Join us the following week at McGill University where participants will have the chance to address a text, theme, or question from the Sunday session in greater depth. In this workshop, Anne Grace and Paul Yachnin will lead participants into a thought-provoking discussion about how artists and playwrights use colour to awake the senses, ignite complex feelings, and provoke critical thinking about art and the world.

Monday, December 3rd at 7:00 p.m. at McGill University's Arts Building (853 Sherbrooke Street West, room 160). Participants are asked to register in advance for reasons of space and planning.

Embarking on a journey to the core of the human heart in brilliant company, Roger Sinha (Sinha Danse) and Kiya Tabassian (Constantinople) combine their immense talents in Śūnya, a new work for 4 dancers and 3 musicians. A highly original encounter between contemporary dance and Persian-inspired music, Śūnya explores the theme of migratory movements and the mixing of cultures.

Renowned for hybrid dance where bharatanatyam, martial arts and contemporary dance fuse together in a narrative framework that also pays tribute to traditional Indian dance, Roger Sinha pursues his interest in the immigrant, "the other", the rootless. He joins forces with the ensemble Constantinople, specialists in dialogue between ancient musics of the Mediterranean and the Middle East, evoking the challenges of cultural encounters.

A strong passion for the environment and collective unity drives her songwriting, resulting in a musical repertoire that has a unique ability to transcend into our deepest emotions.

After a sold-out house for the opening show of its 2012-2013 season, the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre is proud to present a staged reading of Michel Tremblay's beloved play Les Belles Sœurs… in Yiddish! The Quebecois classic was first performed here in Yiddish 20 years ago, directed by the late Dora Wasserman CM, CQ. Tremblay considered it the best interpretation of the play in any foreign language. As part of the DWYT's I ♥ Yiddish Series, the critically acclaimed production is being remounted as a staged reading featuring many of the original cast, directed by Rachelle Glait.

A woman finds herself in the enviable position of winning a million Gold Star stamps (as they were called in Metro stores at the time, or Pinky Stamps at Steinberg's). The woman invites her "sisters" over for a stamp-sticking session, only to find that, over the course of the evening, the sisters have been slowly stealing stamps.

As a family from India moves in to a desert neighborhood in Southern Israel in the 1960's, the family's eldest, beautiful daughter discovers friendship and romance with the lovely local French girl. The film also explores the hardships and surprises that come with the integration of multiple families from different ethnic backgrounds (from the diaspora) and their struggle with immigration and prejudice
