Andrew Shaver is Artistic Director of SideMart Theatrical Grocery. Since SideMart's conception in 2006, Shaver has directed David Mamet's American Buffalo, Morris Panych's The Dishwashers (Montreal Premiere), Patrick Costello's The Ballad of the Young Offender, Gerard Vasquez's OOOO! (English Language World Premiere), SideMart's original musical Haunted Hillbilly (book by Graham Cuthberston, based on a novel by Derek McCormack, and music by Matthew Barber) and the World Premiere of Morris Panych's Gordon. He spent the 2010/11 seasons as part of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's inaugural Michael Langham Conservatory for Classical Direction, during which he assisted Chris Abraham on Michel Tremblay's For the Pleasure of Seeing Her Again and Jennifer Tarver on Harold Pinter's The Homecoming with Brian Dennehy. He teamed up again with Tarver and Dennehy this past November on Samuel Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape at Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven. He'll join Dennehy this coming March at the Goodman Theater in Chicago as an assistant director on Eugene O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh. Other directing credits include: Stones in his Pockets at the Centaur Theatre in February 2011. This May he will again direct SideMart's original musical Haunted Hillbilly at the Centaur Theatre. As an actor, Shaver was a member of the 2009 Stratford Festival acting company, performing in Macbeth, Cyrano de Bergerac and Zastrozzi. More recently, he appeared in SideMart's original Whiteman's Whiskey Comedy Revue and in Imago Theatre's 2010 production of Pierre Michel Trembaly's Champs de Mars. He's been known to work in film, TV, radio and has dabbled in French theatre with his friends in Montreal's Orbite Gauche (Champs d'Honneur and Moeurs en Series, 1.0 & 2.0). He was also a founding member, performer and Artistic Director with the Montreal/Brooklyn-based creation ensemble SaBooge Theatre from 2000-2007 and is a graduate of Queen's University and École Jacques Lecoq in Paris.
