ANNOUNCING AN EXCITING CHANGE IN THE SEGAL'S 2013-14 SEASON!
We are excited to announce that SOUL DOCTOR: Journey of a Rock Star Rabbi, the uplifting and inspiring new musical, hailed as a "joyous, leaping roar" by The New York Times, will make its World Yiddish Premiere with The Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre at the Segal Centre.
Soul Doctor will replace the previously announced production of The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz.
Soul Doctor tells the story of the beloved father of popular Jewish music, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, and his friendship with the high priestess of soul Nina Simone.
"The music and journey of Rabbi Carlebach is one that will resonate strongly with our community. In bringing this new musical to the Segal Centre in Yiddish, we have the exciting opportunity to capture the spiritual essence of his songwriting on stage," says Wasserman, who returns to Montreal to co-direct Soul Doctor with Rachelle Glait.
All previously purchased tickets for Duddy Kravitz will be honoured for Soul Doctor. All dates, times, prices, and seats remain the same.
