We salute all nominees and laureates as well as the Quebec Drama Federation for putting on a fabulous evening.
- Also on Monday, director Chris Abraham was awarded the prestigious Siminovitch Prize in Canadian Theatre. See Paul's Coup de Coeur below to learn more.

"The Siminovitch Prize – Canada's biggest theatre award – was won Monday night by Chris Abraham. Chris has directed seven productions at the Segal Centre. Over the last few years, he has been directing at Stratford and running Crow's Theatre in Toronto. Can't say exactly what just yet, but Chris and I are cooking up something for our 2014-2015 Season.

Chris Abraham's Body of Work at the Segal/Saidye:
- The Possibilities by Howard Barker (1999-2000) – Montreal Young Company
- After the Dance by Terence Rattigan (2000-2001) – Montreal Young Company
- Salt-Water Moon by David French (2001-2002) – with tour to Newfoundland
- The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams (2002-2003) – remounted by CanStage
- Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen (2003-2004)
- I Am My Own Wife by Doug Wright (2006-2007)
- Geometry in Venice by Michael Mackenzie (2009-2010) – with Crow's Theatre

On behalf of everyone at the Segal Centre, MAZEL TOV to Chris and his protégé Mitchel Cushman!

Our friends at Black Theatre Workshop (who have mounted Le Code Noir and Harlem Duet at the Segal and later this Season will bring their youth show The Meeting to our Studio) are opening their mainstage play, Sal Capone: the Lamentable Tragedy of, the story of a hip-hop group coping with the police shooting of one of their members.  The play was written by Vancouver's Omari Newton, whom you may remember from his standout performance in the Centaur's 2003 production of Blue/Orange.  Plays at the MAI from October 24th to November 10th: blacktheatreworkshop.ca"
